About

Hello all and welcome! I’m Candice and have a mild obsession with Young Adult Literature. And I’m guessing that since you’re visiting, you probably have one as well. Unless you’re only here because I paid you the big bucks as a bribe.

Over the past few years my reading interests have pulled a Benjamin Button and begun aging backwards. No longer are the antics or financial angst of the twenty-something interesting. No more do I long for a good romance/sex scene. Bring on the high school first loves, the angst of teenage drama, and the fantasy that only YA can deliver. For a while I feared I was alone, that creepy old lady who perused the YA section at the local library and/or bookstore. But then I discovered that OTHER GROWN UPS LIKE YA TOO!

I wanted to create a site for myself and others who enjoy good Young Adult Literature, who like to live vicariously through books and only wishing their teenage years were as exciting as those literary characters we can’t help but love (or love to hate). So whether your tastes in literature never grew up or you’ve recently rediscovered your youth, welcome to the site and let’s get to reading, adult style!*

*Adult Style – reading with your tasty adult beverage of choice because hey, there are some perks to being a grown-up!

  1. I am with you totally… I used to get so embarrased at the library/bookstore standing in the YA section as a 20 something, and then I said screw it, this is what I like and I don’t care if I’m a freak for it lol… but then I guess I’m not bc there seems to be a lot of older ppl who like it too!! I went through a chick-lit phase, but it didn’t last, now I’m back to where I started, thankfully YA is so much better now than it was in the 90’s!
I like your blog btw, its cute!

  2. Love your blog!! And totally agree with you – I still feel awkward looking for YA books at the bookstore… But there are so many good ones and easy to relate to because I’ve already been there. Looking forward to seeing more posts and following you 🙂 Oh, and I love reading adult style too!!

    1. Thanks so much! I’ve felt much better about my YA reading now that I’ve been blogging and see that there are other people out there who love it as much as I do. Thanks for the follow and yes… reading adult style is THE BEST! 🙂

  3. Your reading interests are like mine as well, and like my writing interests. I used to try so hard to write for adults and failed. Once I started writing for YA it all clicked. Probably because I still feel like an excitable, awkward 14 year old. And I’m in my late 30’s!

  4. Go YA! Looking forward to more of your thoughts on YA books – I’m still considered in the target audience for the genre, but in a few months when I turn 18 I’ll join you as an adult who loves YA. (:

  5. YA was my favorite section of the bookstore for most of my life. Now that I run a banned books blog, I’ve been revisiting it a great deal, as YA seems to be banned much more frequently. Oh, YA, I ain’t quittin’ you.

  6. I love your blog! For a long time when my friends were reading YA books I was a bit snobby about it and thought ‘why would I read those? I’m not a kid anymore!’ but then I read Twilight and it all changed from there! I am totally addicted to YA books and can’t get enough!

    1. Thank you! And thanks for stopping by. What’s funny is that when I was a young adult I didn’t actually read books for my age. I read adult romance novels for the most part. It wasn’t until I was in my late 20s (maybe 26ish) that I started reading YA novels. But you definitely won’t be the only one! Most bloggers I’ve met since starting my blog have been adults, ranging from mid 20s to 40s! Books really don’t have an age limit! 🙂
