Top Ten Tuesday – Countin’ ’em down! Again!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week they come up with a topic and invite whoever wants to add their own list to their own blog.

As it’s that time of year again, this week’s Top Ten is Favorite Books of 2014

Boy, not looking forward to this one! I feel like I haven’t read that much this year… So here goes, in no particular order, these are my favorite books I’ve read in 2014:

Yes Please, Amy PoehlerNo, not a YA book, but whatevs. It was really one of my favorites. (true story: this post is copied from my Top Ten Favorites of 2011 and the italicized words are what I wrote for Bossypants by Tina Fey. I felt it was appropriate to keep!)

A Cold Legacy, Megan Shepherd- This is the final book in this series and wow it does not disappoint!

Snow Like Ashes, Sara Raasch – Uh, yeah this is a recent read but I loved it so! If I ever purchase the book it will be getting a hallowed spot next to the Graceling series, the His Fair Assassin series, and the Hunger Games series. You know it’s legit if it gets one of those spots!

You Don’t Have to Say You Love Me, Sarra Manning– Daphne @ Gone Pecan sent me this a while back and I picked it up sometime over the summer. Lord have mercy… I loved this book and it definitely sparked a renewed interest in this type of book!

The Kiss of Deception, Mary E Pearson – Was pleasantly surprised at just how awesome this book was. Didn’t expect a ton, got more than I could handle! Can’t wait for the rest of the series!

Cress, Marissa Meyer – I know everyone says Cinder or Scarlet is their favorite so far in this series… but friends, I loved me some Cress! I think she’s my favorite thus far!

Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me, Mindy Kaling – Mindy is my spirit animal. Loved this book a million Swedish fish.

Austenland, Shannon Hale– This is one of those books that’s been on my shelf forever but I just never picked up. What I love about this is that the book was actually an ARC I found at our library’s used bookstore.

Incarnate, Jodi Meadows – I read this as part of a read along Alexa @ Alexa Loves Books hosted. Shameful that I waited so long to read this great series!

Stray, Elissa Sussman – This one only got 3 stars on Goodreads, but I’ll be honest… it’s sort of stuck with me. Despite the fact that my review says I can’t remember anything from it. haha

This little gem was on my 2011 post and thought it was just as adorable now as it was then!
Okay, as promised, funny Hunger Games story: For Christmas my parents got me a Kindle Fire (awesome parents!). We went to visit my grandmother and my dad was playing with the Kindle and asked me if I had any games on it yet. He was searching around on it when he asked, but I told him no. Well, I had already downloaded the Hunger Games and he saw that and said “Hey, what about this one? Hunger Game?” I had a good laugh and explained that no, it’s a book. Oh, Dad.

  1. Ha! I love your throwback story. So glad you loved You Don’t Have to Say You Love… it wasn’t my favorite Sarra Manning, but really, I don’t care, I want everyone to love her books as much as I do!

    1. Oh, if Yes Please is read by Amy it will be PERFECT! It wasn’t really as funny as I was expecting, but was so heartfelt and touching. I cried a few times, had to put it down a few times… very good book! πŸ™‚

  2. I think the only one from your list that I’ve read so far is Incarnate but I’ve read and reread it several times. EVERY one of the rest of these are on my to-read list either on Goodreads or my library! What a great list! I’m sure I’ll be working my way through these titles in 2015 (:

  4. I haven’t read any of these yet, though a few are on my want-to-read list. I wasn’t that thrilled with Cinder, but I’m hoping to get to Scarlet this year (I’ve heard quite a few people say it’s better than the first book).

  6. I love, love, love Cress, too! I like Cinder and Cress the most. And although I like Scarlet, I don’t love her. I have a hard time relating to her. But I DOOOOO love me some Wolf! πŸ™‚
