The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 6th and runs through Sunday, January 12th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure, and the only reading competition is between you and your usual number of books read in a week. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 9.0 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team
Usually whenever Bout of Books comes up I have trouble participating due to work, clubs, meetings, priorities… but this time I am FREE from all of these obligations! I still have on more week of recovery before going back to work so I’m excited to be able to devote some time to Bout of Books!
My girls over at Gone Pecan have a great method for picking books for Bout of Books, so I’m gonna copy them. I love making short term reading goals, but like to give myself options. My goal for this week is 8-9 books (mostly because some of them I need to finish!)So here we go:
Need to Finish – All
Love in a Time of Global Warming
One Thousand Gifts
Days of Blood and Starlight
NetGalley/Edelweiss – 2
Independent Study
Alienated
Defy
Elusion
Owned Books – 2-3
Outlander
Austenland
The Name of the Star
The Girl Who Fell Beneath Fairyland and Led the Revels There
The Host
Library – 1
To be determined
I won’t be posting daily to update my progress – that just gets too cluttered on my blog! – but will be updating this post as I complete books. Can’t wait to get started!
This looks like fun! If I wasn’t right on the edge for my assignment deadlines I would totally take part! Next time, for sure.

I’m interested! Perhaps I’ll get through a few books this week, since I usually don’t finish any in a week.

Woohoo rock that readathon! A lot of us are catching up with Blood & Starlight this year. Independent Study sounds cool too – another series I’m behind on, lol. Have fun!
