I’ve I don’t really participate in this particular meme but today’s question from G at GReads! really made me a little sentimental so I thought I’d participate today!
Today’s question is: From your personal collection of books, which ones hold the most value to you?
I have SO. MANY. BOOKS. that are extremely valuable to me! None of them are signed or were given to me. They probably aren’t the most popular. But that’s okay, because they’re super special to me!
Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married – This is my all-time favorite book ever and ever and ever! I’ve read it more times than I care to admit and have sticky notes all in it marking different spots. When I’m feeling blue or need a pick-me-up, I open this book and read. It doesn’t matter where I start, I just read and am instantly better. When I want a little reminder that true love wins, I read the ending. I love the ending. Seriously, I’m gonna be buried with this book. It’s that special to me.
My “inherited” copies of Little Women and Heidi – So I don’t really know where these books actually are in my parents’ house, but they’re really important to me. Yeah, I know… but they’re still considered “my collection” and eventually I’ll get them out of the attic and pass them along to my own kids (if I have any!). There’s something wonderful to me about reading older books. The way they smell of antiqueness and are so delicate. But most of all I like to think that some time long ago another girl loved them. Another girl devoured the pages, smiled and cried and triumphed with the characters. I like having been passed on a legacy of books and the idea of eventually passing that legacy on. (pictures aren’t my actual books… you know, since they’re hidden at my parents’ house… just images I found online. But those are the same covers as what I have!)
aw that’s sweet ^_^
