Let's go to the movies!, To Do Lists

Top Ten Tuesday – Hooray for Hollywood! That screwy, ballyhooey Hollywood!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week they come up with a topic and invite whoever wants to add their own list to their own blog.

Ah, movies… entertainment to the masses. It’s really becoming a more common trend to turn books into movies and I say “Hey, if it’s getting more people to read, all the better!” And since just about every somewhat popular book is getting turned into a movie, I thought I’d throw my own recommendations into the ring. Who knows? Maybe a big time Hollywood producer is checking out my blog… Hello big time Hollywood producer!

Here are my Top Ten Books that I’d like to see made into movies:

Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married – This was actually a TV show in England many years ago, but I want to see it as a movie! (P.S. It starred Gerard Butler – yummy!)

Graceling – But only if it could star Ryan Phillipe (a la the 90s) as Prince Po.

The Sky is Everywhere – But only if arch-nemesis Selena Gomez DOESN’T star in it.

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children – What’s this I read? Tim Burton to direct this adaptation? <checks pulse to see if heart is racing> I will be first in line if this is true.

Heist Society – I’m pretty sure I’d NEVER actually go see this in theaters, but I think this would be a great Sunday afternoon movie.

Texas Gothic – I know I talk about this book like ALL THE TIME, but it’s seriously so good and I’d love to see it made into a movie. Especially if it could star Emma Stone.

The Scorpio Races – I don’t know what it is about this book that I want to see brought to life, but it could be good… right?

American Girls Kirsten Books – You know, all the other girls got their own movie… what about Kirsten?!

Anna and the French Kiss – Again, this is one of those movies I probably wouldn’t go see in the theaters, but I’d happily Red Box or Netflix this and curl up on my sofa with a big bowl of popcorn and champagne to watch it!

Divergent – Meh… thought I’d add this like everyone else most likely is. Although it would be kind of awesomepants…

  1. I never realized that the Kirsten books never got a movie! Wonder why? Shame on them. She needs her moment in the spotlight.

  2. I had a Kirsten doll, she was my favs! I don’t remember any of the movies, though, but that is sort of typical for me. I am a horrible movie watcher. Also, Tim Burton and Miss Peregrine? FOR REALZ?

    1. I know, right? If Burton actually directs that it will be the most amazing thing EVER. The entire time I was reading it I thought “If this is made into a movie Tim Burton would be fantastic directing it.” And then lo and behold, I saw that he is being considered/he is considering it! Now if Helena Bonham Carter joins the cast, I’ll be in true heaven!

  3. Does selena know ypu two are arch nemeses? So awesome. I agree, by the way. Also, Heist society was a fleeting thought for my list, but you are right that i would probably not see it at the movies, unless i go disguised as a teeny bopper (and i am just not up on the slang). I would have to wait until it came out on cable. ~ dixie

  4. I thought about adding Graceling, but I think some of my favourite elements might not make it into a movie adaptation.

    or did I include it on my list… I don’t think I did…

  5. I didn’t know the American Girls books were made into movies? I adored Felicity. I read all of her books and wrote book reports on them for my second grade class. I would have been crazy about the Felicity movie had I known about it!

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children is a book that continually piques my interest, and yet I haven’t read it. Shame on me! And there is hearsay that Tim Burton may direct an adaption of it? I need to read this book ASAP!

    1. They are! There are movies for Samantha, Molly, Felicity and Kit. They’re all pretty cute. And you really MUST read Miss Peregrine… it’s so good! I was shocked at how different it was from what I was expecting and how genuinely creeped out I was. If that’s not enough to get you to read it, Tim Burton directing it should be! 🙂
