Top Ten Tuesday – Oh, he’s doing his own theme music?

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature created by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week they come up with a topic and invite whoever wants to add their own list to their own blog.

This Top Ten Tuesday is the Top Ten Books I’d Give A Theme Song To.

This one sounds like a crazy challenge that I’m pretty sure will keep me up all night long. I’m sort of looking forward to it.

As you can tell from other posts, I like doing fun titles for them instead of just whatever book I’m reviewing – it keeps it fun for me (as if blogging wasn’t fun on its own!). A lot of times I end up doing song lyrics for titles, sometimes because they seem to fit the book; other times because they happen to feature a word from the book’s title.

 

Here are ten books that I’d give a theme song to:

Dearly, Departed
Theme Song: Who Are We to Question Love? by Cast Iron Filter

This is NOT my kind of music, and I’m pretty sure this song is about a 15 year old running off with a 28 year old, but I think the concept is the same. Who are we to question love between a zombie and a girl?

Saving Francesca
Theme Song: Have It All by Jeremy Kay

If you’ve ever heard this one, you know the lyrics are pretty depressing – the first line is “Some days I feel like crying.” But the song is so peppy and upbeat that it leaves you feeling hopeful rather than depressed. Which I think suits this book just fine.

Sisters of Glass
Theme Song: How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? from The Sound of Music

I had this stuck in my head for days after reading this, the true sign of a theme song.

Welcome, Caller. This is Chloe
Theme Song: Theme song from Fraiser

The entire time I read this book I had Fraiser stuck in my head – so why wouldn’t that theme song transfer over to this book?

Anna and the French Kiss
Theme Song: L’ Appuntamento by Omella Vanoni

I have no idea what this is and I’m pretty sure it’s not even French, but it sort of stuck in my head for Anna.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
Theme Song: 1979 by The Smashing Pumpkins

It doesn’t hurt that this band is actually featured in the book… but somehow I imagine this song could be a good representation of this book.

The Hunger Games
Theme Song: What Ever Happened? The Strokes

I think we’ve all got a song for this one… this is mine.

City of Ashes
Theme Song: Kissin Cousins by Elvis Presley

C’mon… who doesn’t think about this song when they get to the part where <spoiler> Jace and Clary are supposed to be related?!

Yeah… I did 8. Sue me. I have a headache today.
