This Top Ten Tuesday is the Top Ten Books I’d Quickly Save If My House Was Going To Be Abducted By Aliens Subject to a Zombie-pocolypse
Whatever… this could happen.
When I was little I had this morbid fascination of asking friends “If me and so-and-so were trapped in a burning building who would you save first?” I generally asked this of friends who had started hanging out with other friends and I was jealous. Clearly this was early signs of me being entirely too co-dependent and kind of a beyotch because no one really liked when I asked them that.
Here are ten books that I would save in the face of a zombie-pocolypse:
Lucy Sullivan is Getting Married
I’m going to be buried with this book. Mark my words.
Dearly, Departed
This has some good training techniques for getting rid of zombies, such as shooting them in the head to kill them. Good to know. Good to know.
All the books in my Kindle
I think I just saved 20 books with one fell swoop.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
While I would love to save all 7 books, I’m afraid I’m not that strong. This one seems like the most worthwhile to save. Hear me out: everyone else is gonna save HP 1 – you know they are – so how fun is it gonna be when years from now, after all the survivors have gotten old and their kids are reading their tatty old copies of HP 1 , old lady me is gonna come out of my cave-house and cackle “Guess what young ‘uns! Harry Potter dies at the end of the series!” wahahaha
The Twilight Series
I’m applying some muscle here. I figure these will be good ammo for throwing at a zombie – they’re so big they could take someone’s head off!
I Like You: Hospitality Under the Influence
I’m gonna need to know how to cook and drink. This one provides tips for both.
Ella Enchanted
For the kiddies. Annnnd me.
Sense and Sensibility
I’ve been meaning to read this for months. No time like hiding from zombies to catch up with a classic!
Any of my old romance novels
Depending on who’s left after zombie-pocolypse I may need to live vicariously through these books with Reginald’s quivering member.

I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who saw the topic and thought of books to save in case of apocalypse! And I decided to save HP 1 and 6, so we’re nearly halfway to a full set in the post-apocalyptic world 🙂

I didn’t even think of saving some books with possible survival tips until I start reading other bloggers’ lists! Maybe I should look into compiling a shelf of such useful books, so I can save whichever one is most appropriate to the disaster!
I totally approve of Ella Enchanted.
Are the Twilight books really heavy? I’ve always had this impression that they look fat, but light. But I don’t own any so I can’t really check.

I’m not sure how heavy the Twilight books are now that I think about it. I’ve got two paperback ones and two hardback ones. I know the hardbacks are heavy and could probably do some damage if need be!

Interesting. They’re probably worth trying before any heavy books that you really love, anyway.
Also, I don’t know much about personal zombie survival, but you can demonstrate with differential equations that the government should organize military attacks against zombies instead of trying to quarantine them or cure the zombies. You know, just in case they happen to ask your opinion on this matter.

You’re hilarious. Jonah “effing” Griggs (who I named my youngest son after, j/k). I think if I could only take one Harry Potter, it woukd be six, but if we were really smart, we’d put them on our e-readers. And now I am totally making an emergency box for the zombie-pocalypse, including hand gun and ammo, survival guides, socks (cause I am always cold) , a tent and sleeping bag, twinkies, excedrin, my nook and adapter, the mortal instruments series, and some form of chocolate. Let’s set a meeting place for that inevitability. The password is Griggs. ~dixie

I thought about saving my Nook, but then I figured I wouldn’t have electricity to charge it! I love that you picked Twilight for throwing at the zombies. In fact, I love that you changed the whole thing to zombies instead of aliens. Awesome.

Haha I am so in love with your list it is not even a joke. I left a reply on my blog to you since I was so edited to see Ella Enchanted – I adore that book so hard! I even like the movie, though that’s giving it a lot of allowances haha. When I was considering making the list, I totally had HP7 on it! I I figured it was big enough to be used as a brick, plus that’s where it all comes together – you’ve got to keep record of that somehow!
Also, I love your little anecdote of asking friends who they would save. Ahh, the tell-tale things we did as children that foreshadowed our future issues. Aren’t they grand?
